🪶 Dive into Norse mythology: between ancient legends and artisanal inspirations

Norse mythology is a fascinating world, filled with symbols, powerful stories, and figures that are both mythical and deeply human.
She inspires many people today, both in their spirituality and in their imagination, and she occupies a special place in my creative process.

Through this article, I invite you to discover the broad outlines of this tradition, to feel its atmosphere... and perhaps, to explore its echoes in your daily life.

A Nordic landscape evoking the world of ancient sagas—between wild beauty and natural spirituality.

🌿 A living world woven around Yggdrasill

At the heart of Norse cosmology stands Yggdrasill , the World Tree.
This gigantic tree connects the nine worlds that form the universe: each representing an aspect of existence – visible or invisible.

Here are three of these iconic worlds:

  • Midgard : The world of humans, surrounded by an impassable ocean, protected by the serpent Jörmungandr. It is the center of our experience.
  • Asgard : The realm of the Aesir gods, where Odin, Thor, and the others reside. Accessible only via the Bifrost, the famous rainbow bridge.
  • Helheim : The realm of the dead, ruled by the goddess Hel. It is not a place of punishment, but a space of rest and transition.

Each world reflects a part of reality: terrestrial, divine, chthonic... A circular and interdependent vision of the cosmos.

⚔️ Complex and deeply symbolic deities

The Norse gods are not fixed figures.
They love, fight, doubt, grow. Their strength lies precisely in their humanity.

Take Odin , for example. He is often seen as the supreme god, but he is above all a seeker, a ferryman. He gives up much to acquire knowledge: an eye for vision, nine days hanging from the world tree to discover the runes.

Freyja is both a warrior and a magician. Goddess of seiðr, the shamanic magic linked to destiny, she is also associated with fertility and love. A powerful figure, often misunderstood, but central.

And Thor , of course: strength, loyalty, protection. His hammer, Mjölnir, is a symbol of stability in the face of chaos—it always returns, as a reminder that justice and order can be restored.

✨ Runes: between secret language and spiritual tools

The Elder Futhark runes are not simply an alphabet.
Each sign carries a deep meaning, a particular energy, a symbolic vibration.

According to legend, Odin gained knowledge of the runes after an act of sacrifice:

He hung from Yggdrasill, wounded by his own spear, without food or water, for nine days and nine nights.
It was only on the verge of death, in a state of clairvoyance, that he perceived the runes deep within the roots of the world.

Since then, they have been used to question destiny, meditate, set an intention or strengthen a symbolic link with a particular force.
In my creations, I sometimes integrate runes for this reason: like discreet talismans, but carrying meaning.

Runes engraved on wood, accompanied by natural elements – a support for introspection or meditation inspired by Nordic tradition.

🔍 An ancient heritage that still resonates today

Why do these stories continue to speak to us?
Perhaps because they do not seek to give lessons, but to reveal archetypes , deep figures that still live within us: the seeker of truth, the magician, the protector, the world to be saved, the inner quest...

This mythology reconnects us to essential things:

  • The connection to nature and cycles
  • The Place of Sacrifice in Transformation
  • The richness of imperfection
  • The courage to look at the invisible

It is this depth that I seek to convey, in my own way, through my handcrafted pieces: simple objects, but anchored in a strong imagination.

📖 A project in progress...

I am currently working on a book dedicated to Norse mythology and another to runes , which will offer an approach that is both accessible and symbolic.
It will be a personal exploration tool as much as an introductory guide, designed for those who wish to better understand these traditions while integrating them into their daily lives.

The book will be available in both print and digital versions , and I will share progress over time. In the meantime, my creations are a first gateway to this universe: whether to accompany your readings, your rituals, or your moments of introspection.
